This is not a book about building companies. It is about what building does to you.

The true currency of a founder's life was never money. It was years. And the real question was never whether the company would succeed — but whether it was worth the life spent on it.

Six acts · Chapter Zero · forty-six chapters

One war, fought in six movements

Descend from the first doubt to the last victory.

Chapter Zero
Act I

The Inner War

Before the market, a founder fights himself. Should this war be fought at all?

  • Am I Even Cut Out for This War?
  • From Strollers to Wheelchairs
  • Would We Get Old Before We Get Rich?
  • It's Never Too Late to Fall in Love
Act II

The Choice of Battle

Where the war is fought decides more than how well it is fought.

  • Pick Your Panipat Carefully
  • War Doesn't Determine Who's Right, Only Who's Left
  • Krishna Isn't Coming
  • When Elephants Fight, It Is the Grass That Suffers
Act III

Building the War Machine

Armies are built from people. And character decides more than strategy.

  • Choose the Neighbour Before You Choose the House
  • Bada Hua To Kya Hua
  • Sasta Nasha Nahin Karna Chahiye
  • Kaun Rokega Mujhe?
Act IV

The War Chest

Capital is not merely money. It is a force that quietly reshapes judgement.

  • The Only Way to Get Love Is to Be Lovable
  • Deti Kitna Hai?
  • There Is No Multiple for Home
  • The Honeymoon Ends. The Marriage Begins.
Act V

Dharmakshetra

Integrity, loyalty, power — and the enemy that arrives wearing your own face.

  • Grow Up, Abhimanyu
  • Smart Is Everywhere
  • Trust Arrives on Foot
  • Every Founder Meets Ravana
Act VI

Do It for the Love of the Game

Why do some keep fighting long after they have already won?

  • A No Is a No Is a No
  • Ek Umar Ke Baad, Startups Ko Zinda Rakhna Padta Hai
  • Char Dham
  • … and everything between the parentheses
Epilogue
From the book

A few lines

The stroller and the wheelchair are not opposites. They are parentheses. And between those two curved brackets unfolds everything we call a life.

On time

The most important due diligence a founder ever performs is not whether the company is worth the money — but whether it is worth the years.

On what building costs

Smart is everywhere. Integrity isn't. Intelligence predicts capability. Character predicts behaviour.

On what capital amplifies

Every founder dreams of building Lanka. Almost none imagine that Ravana will arrive wearing their own face.

On how success changes a founder

Companies rarely fail because nobody noticed. They fail because nobody interrupted.

Read it if

You are the founder, mid-war

You are years in and no longer sure what the company is costing you. This book names the cost without flinching. It will not tell you to quit, or to stay.

You fund founders

You write the cheque and see the pitch, rarely the nights. These pages show what capital does to judgement over a decade. Read it before the next board meeting.

You love one

You have watched someone you love disappear into a company. This book explains the war they cannot explain at dinner. Give it to them, or read it yourself.

I spent twenty-five years in corporate technology — Fidelity, UnitedHealth, large-scale IT delivery. I knew how to make big systems work. Then I spent time with founders and realised something uncomfortable: big systems train you for certainty. Startups are built in its absence.

That gap is what India Accelerator was built to close. Since 2017 we've backed more than 250 startups and built a full-stack platform for founders — capital, structured growth, and physical ecosystems across twenty cities.

I write about founder psychology, capital allocation, and the parts of building nobody puts in a pitch deck. This book is where all of that goes deepest.
